Simpro has just launched Lightning — an AI layer for the Simpro platform. In this session, Darren Whitby from Platinum Consultants walks through what has actually shipped, what Cooper can and cannot do yet, and whether you should lean in now or wait. Stick around to the end for a look at our brand new Claude AI to Simpro Connector.
Simpro has just launched Lightning — an AI layer for the Simpro platform, headlined by Cooper (the new AI brain) and a growing roster of agentic digital workers built specifically for the trades. It is the biggest shift Simpro has made in years, and the early roadmap looks genuinely promising.
In this session, Darren Whitby from Platinum Consultants walks through Lightning end-to-end. Not a marketing reel — a hands-on demo with an honest review of the rough edges and practical guidance on whether to lean in now or wait.
While Lightning is rolling out, Platinum Consultants has already built a live AI connector that gives you natural language control of your Simpro system today — no waiting, no roadmap, no rollout schedule.
Using Claude AI, you can build quotes, create and schedule jobs, record payments, run reports, manage assets, and perform dozens of other Simpro operations in a single message. Full read and write access across your entire Simpro data model.
Questions submitted by our members during the live webinar. We are working through the answers and will be updating this page regularly — check back soon as more answers are added.
More content on the way. We will continue uploading answers, additional resources, and follow-up content from this webinar as we receive and verify the information. If your question is not yet answered, check back in over the coming days.
An average question consumes approximately 0.13 credits. Simple questions may consume as little as 0.1 credits or less. More complicated queries — particularly those that require designing a dashboard or engaging in a back-and-forth conversation with follow-up questions — will exponentially increase credit consumption.
The base Lightning plan for JustAsk includes 6 credits per month. This allocation is estimated to provide approximately 50 JustAsk queries per month. Unused credits expire at the end of the month and do not roll over.
Tokens (credits) are allocated per build, not per individual licence.
The GPS Clock-on and Clock-Off feature uses AI to prompt technicians when they arrive at or depart from a job site, and then uses that action to automatically capture accurate time against the job record. It is not a system that automatically clocks the user in or out simply by crossing the geofence boundary — an automatic clock-in/clock-out without any user action is not a promised feature.
The geofence functionality creates a virtual boundary around a job site and triggers a push notification to remind the employee to clock in or clock out when they enter or leave the area. The technician still confirms the action.
For the base Lightning plan, the data refresh cadence is 24 hours — meaning JustAsk data is updated once per day. This is considered sufficient for most day-to-day reporting and dashboarding needs. Simpro are also looking to reduce the base refresh rate down to 6 hours in a future update.
Customers who require more current data can upgrade to a faster refresh rate of 3 hours or 1 hour, available on higher-tier plans.
If you are on a standard Simpro licence without Lightning enabled, you will still retain access to the Mobile Work Completed Notes AI feature as it exists today.
Where JobScribe (the Lightning version) differs is that you can also chat with it to refine the work notes — for example, asking it to add bullet points, change the tone, or adjust the perspective of the content. This interactive editing capability is what sets JobScribe apart from the standard Work Completed Notes AI.
Not right now — the voice over speed cannot be changed at this stage.
There are no immediate plans for this at this stage. The best way to get this feature implemented is to submit it to the Simpro Product Portal — the more customers who vote for an idea, the higher it gets prioritised for development. Your submission genuinely makes a difference.

Yes — this is a known issue and will be rectified.

No, it will not create duplicates in your catalogue. Items scanned through the PO receipt feature are created as one-off items and automatically archived — keeping your catalogue clean.
There are no plans at this stage to bring automatic PO receipting to the desktop as a replacement for Data Feed.
This is currently under consideration for a future iteration — specifically the ability for the scanned receipt photo to be added as an attachment against the PO or receipt record.
The AI PO creation feature has been documented as a subsection in the Simpro Help Guide. You can find it here: AI PO Creation — Simpro Help Guide.
Lightning is a platform upgrade — once it has been enabled, it cannot be downgraded. As a result, you will always retain access to your training videos once created.
As Darren mentioned in the webinar, you also have the option to download your training videos for offline use or backup at any time.
Yes — generating daily summaries for future days is on the roadmap for future improvements.
Currently, the AI PO feature is only available for the PO creation process. It is not available for existing POs — so scanning a receipt against a PO that already exists is not supported at this stage. This is under consideration for a future iteration.
While Lightning rolls out, the Platinum Consultants Claude AI connector gives you natural language control of your Simpro system right now. Book a demo and see it running on your own data in 30 minutes.
